Clinical Supervision and Sex Therapy Supervision

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State and an AASECT-certified Supervisor, Melissa offers compassionate and comprehensive supervision. Drawing from her deep background in systemic family and couples therapy, she provides a multicultural and inclusive space for clinicians pursuing their New York State Clinical License. Melissa helps those she supervises recognize and navigate the intricate intersectionality that can arise in the therapy setting, ensuring a nuanced understanding of their clients' experiences. She also equips clinicians with essential interventions for supporting partnerships. All supervision is available in English and Spanish.

In her specialized Sex Therapy Supervision, Melissa guides clinicians in effectively conceptualizing cases, encouraging them to view clients through multiple theoretical lenses. She aims to help supervisees develop into highly competent therapists who possess a thorough grasp of therapeutic approaches, enabling their clients to confidently explore a full spectrum of issues related to sexuality and intimacy.

The Sexual Attitudes Reassessment (SAR) is an intensive, 14-hour, two-day virtual professional development seminar dedicated to comprehensive sexuality education. This experientially driven, process-oriented program critically examines how diverse social identities and lived locations—including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, age, religion, spirituality, and gender identity—intersect with and inform an individual's sexual values, attitudes, behaviors, and inherent biases. Utilizing a varied pedagogical approach that includes lectures, media presentations, experiential methods, interactive activities, and facilitated small group discussions, the SAR's core objective is to cultivate a heightened self-awareness among participants regarding their own identities, values, attitudes, behaviors, and both conscious and unconscious biases, and to illuminate the profound impact of the professional's 'self' on the therapeutic or helping relationship.
